On this day 30 years ago (1983), Cujo was released in theaters nationwide. The adaptation of the Stephen King novel faced stiff competition at the box office, as a slew of slasher films – including Psycho II - hit the big screen in the same year. Yet even at 4th place among 1983 horror films, Cujo grossed $21 million in the US off a budget of $8 million – making the film a success for Warner Brothers.

Tad, drive out to the Cambers' house where the gentle Cujo, now crazed by the disease, has killed Joe and his friendly neighbour, Gary Pervier.
